Fred Astaire - Easter Parade (1948) - Steppin' Out with My Baby
Fred Astaire - Easter Parade (1948) - Steppin' Out with My Baby The Easter parade is an American cultural event consisting of a festive strolling procession on Easter Sunday. Typically, it is a somewhat informal and unorganized event, with or without religious significance. Persons participating in an Easter parade traditionally dress in new and fashionable clothing, particularly ladies' hats, and strive to impress others with their finery. The Easter parade is most closely associated with Fifth Avenue in New York City, but Easter parades are held in many other cities. Starting as a spontaneous event in the 1870s, the New York parade became increasingly popular into the mid-20th centuryâ€"in 1947, it was estimated to draw over a million people. Its popularity has declined significantly, drawing only 30000 in 2008. Easter Parade is a 1948 American musical film starring Judy Garland and Fred Astaire, featuring music by Irving Berlin, including some of Astaire and Garland's bes! t-known songs, such as "Steppin' Out With My Baby" and "We're a Couple of Swells." It was the most financially successful picture for both Garland and Astaire as well as the highest-grossing musical of the year. The film won the 1948 Academy Award for Best Original Music Score. The writers of the film also received the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Written American Musical.

Hop Cast Episode 099: N'or Easter and Karl Strauss Breweries 21st Anniversary Belgian Strong Ale

Hop Cast Episode 099: N'or Easter and Karl Strauss Breweries 21st Anniversary Belgian Strong Ale
With one episode away from episode 100 Ken Hunnemeder and Brad Chmielewski celebrate episode 99 of the Hop Cast with Mars Sanford. In this episode the three of them continue the fruit theme featured in episode 98 and open up the 21st Anniversary Belgian Strong Ale Brewed with Old Vine Zinfandel Grape Juice from Karl Strauss Breweries. Both Ken and Brad were not that familiar with Karl Strauss but there is a good chance that after 21 years the folks in San Diego may know them well. This Belgian Strong Dark Ale comes in with an ABV of 10.4 %. They then follow up the Karl Strauss with another Belgian Strong Dark Ale from the other side of the United States, the N'or Easter from Captain Lawrence. Captain Lawrence is out of New York and has been putting out one great beer after another. The N'or Easter was a trade sent from beer reviewer Hoptopia. Continuing with the beer theme, the N'or Easter features elderberries... not a berry that Ken or Brad are familiar with. Even with suc! h a unique berry the 11% ABV N'or Easter didn't disappoint. Belgian Strong Dark Ales might not be something you usually reach for in the summer but on a mild night they are often very refreshing.
